HOW TO SEE MY GRADES

Grades represent the level of quality of the student's performance in a course and are reported by the course instructors to the Registrar's Office within two business days of the end of each term. Grades are not posted anywhere nor are any written term grade reports automatically issued. Grades will not be given out over the phone or via email.

To view grades, the student must go to the Student Unoffical Transcript and Grades website and log into that site using their NetID and password. Grades should be viewable by students the day after they are submitted by the instructor.

Grades are given out with the following symbols:
Grades Definition Numerical Equivalent
A Outstanding 4.0
B+ 3.5
B Good 3.0
C+ 2.5
C Satisfactory 2.0
D* Poor 1.0
F Failing 0.0
IN Incomplete; will convert to an F by Feb. 1 if coursework is not completed or the incomplete not extended by the instructor
NG If the course instructor does not submit a grade, a "No Grade" (NG) is administratively assigned. If the student does not resolve this by April 1, the grade will convert to an "F".
D* is NOT VALID for Graduate Courses
Please note that Rutgers does not give out "minus" grades (such as "A-" or "B-"). A grade of C or better is usually required for Major or Minor courses, while General Requirement and General Education courses must only be passed with a D or better.

If a student has a complaint regarding their grade, they should first discuss the matter with their instructor. If the matter requires more formal attention, the student should submit in writing that complaint to the course instructor within 10 days of the end of class. If the student does not receive a satisfactory response from the instructor, the student should submit a grade complaint in writing to the Department Chair of the academic department of the course. If the student does not receive a satisfactory response from the Department Chair, they may submit a grade complaint in writing to the Academic Dean of the college associated with the course.

HOW TO ORDER A TRANSCRIPT

The transcript is the official record of the academic performance of the student at the university. The unofficial transcript for the student may be viewed at any time by going to the Student Unoffical Transcript and Grades website and logging into that site using their NetID and password.

The Official Transcript for the Winter Session Term is only available after the term has been completed and all grades submitted. For Winter 2023, transcripts will be available no later than Monday, January 23, 2023. Official Transcripts must be ordered from the Registrar's Office. To order transcripts, student should go to the Transcript Request website. Be advised that students will require a NetID to access the current student transcript request. Transcipts may be mailed directly to the student or to the institution of the student's choice (address required), or may be ordered for pick-up in the One Stop Center.

Students may also use the Transcript Request website to get an instant Verfication of Enrollment, which is sometimes required by various institutions and organizations.
