17th ANNUAL WINTER POETRY & PROSE GETAWAY
in CAPE MAY, NEW JERSEY
January 15-18, 2010

An annual conference for Writers, Artists and Teachers with challenging and supportive workshops on the oceanfront at the Grand Hotel. The well renowned faculty are headed by Peter Murphy, and include Stephen Dunn, Mark Doty, Michael Broek, Priscilla Orr, Barbara Daniels, and more!

Join us in Cape May during the holiday weekend honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, to begin a few poems, write a short story or two, work on a chapter of your memoir or simply to nurture your inner artist. Workshops are available for both Poetry and Prose, including beginning and advanced techniques, writing memoir or for the children’s market, as well as workshops in song writing, photography, and painting. Workshops run 9am-4pm (noon on Monday), and there are evening receptions, open mikes, dancing and other opportunities.

Tuition: $385.00 includes workshops. Additional independent tutorials are available for an additional fee. Registration with 50% deposit is due by November 15 ($25 early bird discount if paid in full by Nov. 15), with remaining balance due by December 15. Room packages for staying at the Grand Hotel are available, with rates starting at $250 for the weekend.

AMHERST EARLY MUSIC WINTER WEEKEND WORKSHOP
Friday, January 15- Monday, January 18, 2010

The workshop consists of four class periods a day. We offer consort music at all levels except beginner as well as masterclasses in voice, recorder, viol, harpsichord, and Baroque flute. Other classes include medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque repertory, large-group playing and singing and early notation. Classes are held in the spacious, well-lighted classrooms of the Rutgers University Fine Arts Building, just across the river from Philadelphia in Camden, NJ. Door to door van service will run between the Omni Hotel and Rutgers, a 7-minute ride. Instrument storage is available at Rutgers.

GRADUATE MANAGEMENT ADMISSION TEST PREPARATORY WORKSHOPS
This intensive workshop series run by Dr. Anthony Poplawski (senior associate at the Rohrer Center) helps you learn how to better manage the test, budget your time and reduce your anxiety. Learn how the test questions are designed. This makes finding the correct answer among the multiple choices easier. Once your anxiety is reduced, you will be prepared to succeed. We will cover guessing techniques and time management. We’ll also analyze incorrect answers.

GMAT Prep Course Goals

  • To reduce test anxiety.
  • You will familiarize yourself with the tasks you must perform; and you will develop and master an attack plan specific to each question type.
  • To learn the character of the question types.
  • You will rehearse the logic, rhetoric, and math employed in a multiple choice form.
  • To learn effective management; and to reduce anxiety by elevating your score in practice testing.
Thus, you will become familiar with the structure of the test; you will develop an attack plan specific to each psychometric question type on the test, and you will review logical, rhetorical and mathematical problem-solving techniques

Workshop fee of $295 includes instructional materials and parking fees.
